We’ve been asked quite a few times ‘Why Eddie’s Bar?’
Well, when the Aire and Calder Navigation Co decided to build a port with a canal connecting to the West Riding they had to get someone to build it. They in turn had to build somewhere for the engineers to stay as they couldn’t commute (only horse and carriage in those days) so the hotel was built by Sir Edward Banks hence Eddie’s bar! We like to think he would have approved.
